Week 12 Defensive Player of the Week
The Week 12 Defensive Player of the Week became the second
consecutive member of the North Carolina Tar Heel defensive backfield
to be chosen by the voters for this award. This week it was Deunta
Williams who had an extraordinary individual performance against Boston
College that warranted recognition.
Williams intercepted 3 passes and returned those passes for 103 yards
in helping the Tar Heels defeat Boston College 31-13. He came about 1
foot from scoring a TD that in turn led to a score for the Tar Heel
offense. The Tar Heels are leading the country in interception return
yards with 508 in large part due to the play of Williams who now has 6
INT's on the season (5th in the country). Williams also tallied 2
tackles on the day.
Congratulations to Deunta for being chosen as the Defensive Player of
the Week at The Best Damn Poll in the Land for Week 12. Good luck to
Deunta in the future.
