Week 9 Defensive Player of the Week
Week 9 brought with it a record setting performance on the defensive
side of the ball in the form of the big bad Nebraska Cornhusker Jared
Crick. With his teammate, and former Player of the Week winner,
Ndamukong Suh drawing double teams most of the game against Baylor
Crick went out and did something that had never been done at the
University of Nebraska.
That is saying a lot when you consider that just in recent memory some
of the defensive talent that has come out of the Nebraska includes
names like Neil Smith, Grant Wistrom and Kyle Vanden Bosch.
Crick had 5 sacks in one game and 7 tackles for loss. What a stat
line, but that isn't where it ended because Crick also tallied 13
tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass break up. Just a monstrous game.
Of course it would be the Cornhusker defense that was able to dominate
a game and get Nebraska back in the win column after a rough couple of
weeks.
Congratulations to Jared Crick for being overwhelmingly voted as the
Defensive Player of the Week at The Best Damn Poll in the Land. Good
luck in the future Jared.
