OFFENSE
The Week 14 Offensive Player of the Week as chosen by the voters of The Best Damn Poll in the Land is Cincinnati WR Mardy Gilyard.
Gilyard was the key player in an incredible comeback staged by the Bearcats to keep their perfect season intact. Down 31-10 to Pitt Gilyard took the game into his own hands and scored on a 99 yards kickoff return then on a 68 yard TD reception to close the gap to just 7 points.
Eventually the Bearcats were able to wear down the Pitt defense and pull off the victory. For the day Gilyard had 118 yards receiving and 256 yards in kickoff returns for a total of 374 total yards on the day. His 2 touchdowns were extremely pivotal in changing the momentum of the game allowing Cincinnati to overcome the 21 point deficit.
Congratulations to Mardy Gilyard for being chosen as the Week 14 Offensive Player of the Week. Best of luck to Mardy in the future.
DEFENSE
The Week 14 Defensive Player of the Week as chosen by the voters of The Best Damn Poll in the Land is Nebraska Defensive Tackle Ndamukong Suh. Suh received every single vote this week and became the first unanimous winner of a Player of the Week award this season at TBDPITL.
Suh was absolutely dominant in his performance against the Texas Longhorns in the Big XII Championship game. Suh lead the team in tackles with 12 and 7 of those were for a loss. He was in the Texas backfield all day long and sacked Colt McCoy 4.5 times and was credited with 2 QB hurries. An incredible performance that certainly created the final push for Suh to receive an invitation to New York for the Heisman Trophy presentation.
