Florida State to keep wins; lose scholarships
The Infractions Committee handed down it's decision to Florida State. However, the NCAA has kept the whole thing hush-hush. They are giving Florida State 15 days to respond to the Infractions Committee decision. We are going to go out on a limb here. One can only assume that the Infractions Committee has given FSU the option of keeping the wins, but losing more scholarships than just the 4 already that have been stripped. One can also assume that FSU....since the appeal was based on the earlier decision to force the Seminoles to forfiet 14 wins, one can assume that FSU will agree to a further reduction of scholarships and keep the wins. This would keep Bowden in the race at 382 wins to Joe Paterno's 383.

So the school is more concerned about Bowden's personal record than being able to build a quality team? Seems a bit myopic to me.

Track had three championships to lose as well. Is that myopic too?

Seems about right for FSU to decide on a reduction of Scholarships instead of the loss of 14 games, which would ultimately force Bowden to step down and let Jimbo take over...

Tex, my bad. This was just as it pertains to football. I should have included the other sports....but again....I honestly feel the driving force behind the appeal had everything to do with football, Bowden and the wins. Don't get me wrong....losing the track titles would suck too...but where is the bread really buttered? Answer: Football. Again....this was not to slam FSU more as to predict the outcome of the sanctions.

In the grand scheme of things will it really matter 30-40 years from now? To people who don't like Bowden and/or FSU it probably will. But for those who have been a part of his program, seen it up close and personal or are a fan of the program it won't. We all realize that Bobby was the one who built this program (and to a certain extent the school) from the ground up. Without Bowden there would be no FSU. For that we will always appreciate him no matter how many wins he has on paper.
