In honor of blog-tober I will provide you all with SIX, yes I said SIX losers and winners. Just in case you didn’t get enough fail in your day.....Top 6 Winners6) Jon and Kate + an endless mob of lawyers - How the hell are these two still news??? Really?? I am dumber for it, but I have to give credit where credit is due. Somehow they manage to edge themselves into every part of the mainstream media. But why stop here? I am thinking movie deal, platinum soundtrack, broadway anyone?5) Tohatchi Elementary School - Here’s the MSNBC story. This school went from 15% proficiency to nearly 75% in 3 years. It is a remarkable turnaround for a small school in poor New Mexico. There secret to success? Pizza and praise.... sounds simple enough to me.4) American Scientists - First, three american scientists won the Nobel Prize in medicine for something that I only kinda understand after taking molecular biology involving enzymes... But the biggest winners are these scientists ( MSNBC story) who GREW HEART MUSCLE. Yeah, they grew a fuckin heart. That is AWESOME.. ya, I don’t think I have to add anything to that.3) Idaho - Is there a new western powerhouse state??? Boise St is undefeated and in the top 5 and Idaho is 5-1 for the first time since they dominated the FCS. The Vandals are playing solid football under third year coach Akey, they control their own destinies in the WAC, standing at the top of the conference at 2-0. Is it possible that the biggest game ever in the state of Idaho happens this year when the Vandal/Bronco rivalry finally becomes a game.2) USA Soccer - For the soccer-ignorant folks (not an insult) out there our national team last night fought back and scored in stoppage time (basically as late as possible) to clinch first place in the World Cup Qualifying. It was a huge step for the team as they move forward. Couple this with the runner-up position in this summer’s Confederations Cup, soccer fans have a lot to be excited about leading into the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.1) Brazil - WOOOOOO!!! Congrats!!! You deserve it, no you really do. Don’t let the naysayers put you down. All the work you have put into this for the past decade has paid off. I am sure all the Olympians are much happier at spending time on your gorgeous beaches! It may be a good excuse to finally make it down to party-central EARTH.Bottom 6 Losers6) Coat Stores in Ohio - I just really wanted to post this story (told by FOX News). Apparently a woman pulled up to a coat store in my hometown of glorious Columbus, OH, and claimed to have won the lottery. She then offered to cover everyone’s bills. As you can probably guess, it was a hoax. ANd what did my fellow Ohioans do? They did what we do best, riot.. in a coat store... ya5) Stomachs all over the world - According to a UN report (CNN story), the number of underfed people in the world has reach the astronomical number of 1 Billion people. 1 BILLION. This is a sad fact that people often just shrug off. It seems that with the economic downturn hitting pretty much everywhere that there is no logical end in sight.4) Kansas Jayhawk Basketball - So first there was the fight with the football team, then there was the DUI... can someone say runaway train? This team is reminding me of the Bengals of old, out of control and wasting talent. There is serious potential that this could be the biggest bust in recent years. Get control of your team...3) Fox News- Ok, I try and stay away from political agendas, mainly because they are pretty much all full of crap anyway, but something truly head scratching happened this week. As some of you know, there was a march in DC on Tuesday by the gay and lesbian community about the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy. Not saying I support either side of the argument, but one would think 75,000+ marching in the nation’s capital would garner SOME attention from one of the largest 24/7 news network.... well?... really?....no camera crews?....nothing?.... oh you’ll use some ABC footage and mention it in passing for 3 minutes?......wow..... all time low FOX....2) NBA and their replacement refs - Most of us spend our entire lifetimes as fans yelling at the zebras. Most if not all the profanity I learned as a kid came from fantastic role models at sporting events.. yelling at the ump, ref, judge, wtv the sport calls ‘em. But, it’s a tough job. I was a soccer ref and it was stressful as hell. So, when I heard the NBA was forced to use replacement refs, I knew we were heading to rough waters. And I was right. These refs are AWFUL, I mean putrid. The NBA better figure out what to do instead of just tossing out fines at everyone and anyone who opens their mouths. Fining players anywhere from $60k - $25k instead of actually fixing the issue is just blind stupidity.... Get your head out of your ass NBA.1) Ultra-Conservatives - Ok, as I said before, I try not to get political on this blog... but I have my tipping point, and I am pissed. There are two reasons why. Firstly, it is sad that Chicago was knocked out of Olympic consideration at such an early stage. It is a loss for the entire country. So why the hell are you celebrating??? Are you THAT desperate? Come on! Applauding your nation losing the chance to show off one of its premiere cities to the world is pitiful, especially when your only reasoning is because it is technically a notch in the loss column of your political rival and current majority. Basically you are telling the world that your political agenda and stature is more important than the country you want to run and continue to call the “best on earth”... again disgusting. Secondly is the vicious attacks on President Obama over the Nobel Peace Prize. It is quite true that Lou Holtz is more deserving to win a Pulitzer than Obama is to win this award, and the president agrees with you. But, shouldn’t you be happy that the rest of the world likes our president for a change? Instead of attacking the award, accept it as a major positive for our country. Get over yourselves fast or else you will find yourselves in the minority for a LOOONG time... no one, and I mean no one likes arrogant assholes.

Re: Rampage's Winners and Losers for the Week of 10/15 Great entry!Idaho has my stomach turning...especially because a coaching mulligan like Robb Akey does not deserve this success. This is basically the same 2-10 team from last year!Welcome to Blog-tober Fest!

Re: Rampage's Winners and Losers for the Week of 10/15 Fantastic stuff RR.I couldn't agree more about the "Americans for Prosperity" (what the F ever) applauding the elimination of Chicago from Olympics consideration. WTF?????If you were truly for prosperity this would have saddened you. A-holes that remind me of spoiled 4 year olds.

Re: Rampage's Winners and Losers for the Week of 10/15 Very good read, Rampage.
Very good read, Rampage.
Re: Rampage's Winners and Losers for the Week of 10/15 Good read, overall, but I strongly disagree with Ultra-Conservatives being one of the biggest losers. Typically, I would love to jump on the hater bandwagon, but those were two issues that I completely agree with them on... this might actually be the first time in recent history that they should be called winners.

Re: Rampage's Winners and Losers for the Week of 10/15 Rampage, that's the best thing I've read in a good long while. And I agree on pretty much everything.

Re: Rampage's Winners and Losers for the Week of 10/15 Fishstick - why?? While in the long run, not getting the Chicago olympics may prove to be a blessing in disguise, and Obama prob didn't deserve the Nobel, does that give you permission to drag the country you claim to love through the dirt in order to further your political career and agenda? What happened to supporting your president? Conservatives were all about that when Georgie Porgie was in office.... then again liberals have been just as hypocritical....... how about we just pull a noah's ark and get rid of the lot of 'em?
