On Christmas Eve of 2008, Miami of Ohio hired then Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Haywood to right the Redhawks' ship. He promptly went 1-11 and had everyone wondering if this was the right hire. In 2010, Mike silenced the doubters and the critics. 2010 began with an honorable showing against the University of Florida. The team seemed to feed off of that performance, going 7-1 in MAC play, winning the East, and earning a date with Northern Illinois for the MAC title. Miami beat the heavily favored Huskies and finished their huge turnaround season at 9-4 and a GoDaddy.com Bowl bid.

Even the creator of The Not So Top 10 and famed Mike Haywood basher, The Greek, had nothing but praise for the job Mike Haywood accomplished this season. "He shut my mouth. Mike did a fantastic job with his team this year. I'm still mad at him because now I have to print a retraction AND find another MAC coach to pick on. Shouldn't be that hard though, it IS the MAC," the Greek stated. "One hell of job, in all seriousness, and a well deserved award."

Here's how the rest of the balloting turned out:
